Testimonials

“I have competed professionally in Europe over the last 7 years. In my career have been around top European, NBA trainers and coaches. Trust me when I say that what Dorian teaches is ahead of the competition on so many levels. I learn something everytime I get to the gym”
-Rahshon Turner (Farleigh Dickinson University, Gravelines France Pro-A)

“My quest to pursue basketball on a professional level led me to seek out the best trainer/training system that I could find. I don’t impress easily, but wow! I was impressed! I didn’t realize that there was another level of skill work. I have invested in and studied various DVD and training programs. I can say with a strong level of certainty that Dorian is on to something really, really special! I would recommend training for any professional, collegiate, high school, or beginning basketball player, for that matter, who wants to go to the next level!
-William Belton (Morehouse College, Professional)

“Getting ready for my Pre-Draft workouts and the Rocky Mountain Revue NBA Summer League, I realized that there were things that I needed to continue to work on in order to make it happen. Dorian’s ball handling workouts, as well as his ability to make seemingly complex moves extremely simple has gotten me and will continue to keep me prepared.”
-Earl Calloway (University of Indiana, Free Agent Atlanta Hawks Summer League Team)

“Dorian got my son over the hump. His confidence and skill took off a few years ago. Now his basketball future seems unlimited”
-Darryl Felder (Son Darryl, University of North Carolina-Wilmington)

“Drey’s Confidence and Skill grew as a direct result of Dorian's commitment to developing the “whole” person. Drey definitely wouldn’t be where she is today without Dorian’s guidance over the last few years”
-Jennifer Mingo (Daughter Drey, McDonald’s High School All- American, University of Maryland

Dorian has helped me grow into the player that I am today. Not only have I become a much better skilled player but much more confident. I love and enjoy the game so much more since I started working with the program almost 3 years ago. I think about where I started and where I am today and I know for a fact that Dorian was the difference!
-Andrea McGuirt (Guard-Indiana University)

About Dorian

Born in Mobile, Alabama, Dorian's love affair with "This Life Called Basketball" began at the age of 8 when he was introduced to the game of organized basketball. Dorian starred for next 5 years at St. Mary’s Catholic School (Mobile, Alabama) leading his team in scoring every year. Dorian transitioned to the public school system his eighth grade year. After not making (being cut) his eighth grade team and freshman team at C.F. Vigor High School (Prichard, Alabama), Dorian worked diligently to improve his game over the summer. Dorian returned his sophomore year and started junior varsity co-leading his team in scoring.

Poised to explode onto the state basketball scene in Alabama his junior year, Dorian was diagnosed with a congenital knee defect that threatened his playing career. Defying the doctor's orders, Dorian extensively rehabilitated and came back early to join the varsity team midway through the season averaging 6 points a game and 2 steals. During his senior season (1989-90) Dorian became one of the city’s top scorers, averaging 18.3 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 assists per game, earning Optimist Club Player of the Week honors, Williamson High School All-Tournament Team selection, Blount High School All-Tournament selection, and All-County honors. The All-County team consisted of 2 future college and NBA stars: Antonio Lang (Duke University, 3 Final Fours, 2 NCAA national championships, Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers) and Jason Caffey (University of Alabama, Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors, Milwaukee Bucks).

Dorian began his college career at S.D. Bishop State Community College (Mobile, Alabama) coached by the legendary Oscar James. Dorian led his team in scoring, free-throw percentage, and steals as a freshman. During the summer between his freshman and sophomore years, Dorian competed in the Mobile Pro-Am Summer League with the likes of Terry Catledge (Philadelphia 76’ers, Orlando Magic), Derrick Hamilton (University of Southern Mississippi, New Jersey Nets, various overseas teams), Antonio Harvey (University of Georgia, LA Lakers) Dale Brown (University of Kentucky), Cedric Yelding, Junie Lewis, Jeff Hodge (all University of South Alabama Hall of Famers) and Antonio Lang and as a 19 year old, led the League in scoring, averaging nearly 30 points per game. Dorian followed that magnificent summer with an amazing sophomore year averaging 19.3 points per game, 4 assists, and 2.5 steals (including a conference high 43 point, 8 assist game) while garnering Alabama Junior College All-Star honors.

The summer immediately following, Dorian started on the Silver Medal Alabama Olympic Sports Festival team. Dorian accepted a full athletic scholarship to play for Coach Rich Zvosec (currently University of Missouri at Kansas City) at the University of North Florida (Jacksonville, Florida), where as a junior (1992-93) averaged 14.6 points per game leading his team in scoring, steals, dunks, and 3 point field goal percentage. Dorian sat out what would have been his senior season at the University of North Florida and transferred back home to finish his playing career for Joseph Niland and NAIA power Spring Hill College, which was ranked as high as #4 in the national rankings during his senior season (1994-95). Dorian averaged 12 points per game for the Badgers, including a team season high 27-point outing against Belhaven College. Dorian graduated from Spring Hill with a degree in Health Sciences and a 3.06 grade point average. Dorian went on to serve as an assistant coach with the Gwinnett Gwizzlies (American Basketball Association) under Georgia Tech’s legend Brooke Steppe, and has trained countless athletes (including NBA players) over the years. Dorian is also a NESTA certified Speed, Agility, and Quickness (SAQ) Trainer. Dorian has competed professionally in Mexico and Austria.
